The Goal was Never More Gear

It’s something we’ve heard a lot over the last few years and honestly, something we’ve watched happen more and more as forward-facing sonar setups continue evolving.

You think once you buy the boat, everything else falls into place. But most of the time, that’s really just the beginning.

From trying to figure out what products are compatible to deciding which mounting system, battery, shuttle, or accessories are actually worth buying, people are met with endless options but no real all-in-one solution.

You buy one thing to improve your setup, then another, then another, and eventually you look around your boat and realize there’s cables everywhere, mounts in awkward spots, and somehow less room than when you started.

The funny thing is, most people aren’t buying more gear because they want more stuff. They’re trying to figure out the best way to fish. And honestly, that usually comes with a lot of trial and error.

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of setups. Some incredibly clean. Some that honestly look frustrating before they even leave the boat ramp. The setups that usually stand out the most aren’t always the biggest or most expensive ones either. They’re the setups you’re not thinking about while you’re fishing because everything is just working the way it should.

Nothing feels in the way.
Nothing feels overcomplicated.
You’re not constantly adjusting things or stepping over cables all day.

A lot of people think improving a setup always means adding more to it. Most of the time, the better solution is simplifying things.

That’s really been one of the biggest goals behind Summit Fishing Equipment since the beginning: making gear portable, compact, and simple to use year round.

One example of that is the Summit HD Shuttle.

The Summit HD Shuttle was built to be an all-in-one solution whether you fish from a kayak, pontoon, bass boat, or out on the ice. Instead of needing completely different setups for every season, the goal was to create something portable that could move with you and make things easier.

Less confusion.
Less clutter.
Less gear taking over your boat.

The whole goal has always been making fishing setups feel easier to use, not more complicated. That’s something we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about lately, especially while working on some of our upcoming products.

The Apex Boat Mount series was designed around that same mindset. We looked at some of the most common frustrations people deal with while trying to piece together boat setups and started building solutions that work better together.

We’re still working through the final stages of development, but we’re excited to get the Apex series out on the water soon. At the end of the day, the best setups usually aren’t the ones with the most gear. They’re the ones that disappear once you start fishing. Everything works the way it should and you stop thinking about it.

That’s probably the goal most people were chasing all along.
