Everything We Know About Garmin's Rumored LiveScope 2(So Far)

If you've spent any time on YouTube, Facebook, or fishing forums lately, you've probably seen the rumors. Garmin may be preparing to release the next generation of LiveScope, the Livescope 2 featuring the LVS42 & the LVS44.

Images have surfaced online, speculation is growing, and anglers everywhere are asking the same questions:

  • Should I wait to buy LiveScope?
  • Will my current setup still work?
  • Will I need a new pole mount?
  • Will my battery still work?
  • Is it worth upgrading?

At the time of writing, Garmin has not officially announced a new LiveScope transducer or confirmed any specifications. While there are plenty of rumors circulating, very little has been confirmed. Rather than adding to the speculation, we wanted to share what we know, what we don't know, and what we'll be watching if Garmin introduces Livescope 2.

What We Know

While Garmin hasn't made an official announcement, there are several reasons anglers believe a the LVS42 and LVS44 could be on the horizon.

Recent leaked images and discussions throughout the fishing industry have fueled speculation that Garmin is preparing to introduce LiveScope 2. As with any rumored product, details may change—or the rumors may prove inaccurate—until Garmin shares official information.

One thing is certain: Forward-facing sonar continues to evolve, and manufacturers are constantly working to improve image quality, target separation, and overall performance.

What We Don't Know

This is where it's important to separate facts from speculation.

As of today, Garmin has not confirmed:

  • A release date
  • Product name (Speculation that it'll be named Livescope 2, LVS42 & LVS44)
  • Pricing
  • Technical specifications
  • Whether existing accessories will remain compatible
  • Whether current LiveScope owners will need to upgrade

Until Garmin publishes official information, everything else should be considered speculation.

The Questions Every Angler Should Be Asking

Instead of focusing only on what Garmin might release, here are the questions that matter most.

Will My Current LiveScope Still Work?

Absolutely.

If Garmin announces new technology tomorrow, it doesn't suddenly make today's LiveScope less effective. Thousands of anglers continue to catch fish every day using existing LiveScope systems, and that won't change overnight. If your current setup helps you find fish and gives you confidence on the water, there's no reason to believe it suddenly becomes obsolete.

Will My Accessories Still Fit?

This is one of the biggest questions we'll be asking.

  1. Will the new transducer use the same mounting pattern?
  2. Will existing pole mounts still work?
  3. Will transducer covers fit?
  4. Will boat mounts require new adapters?

At Summit Fishing Equipment, compatibility is one of the first things we'll test once Garmin officially announces new products.

Will I Need a Different Battery?

It's too early to know. If Garmin changes power requirements or introduces new technology, battery recommendations could change. However, most anglers shouldn't assume they'll need an entirely different power system until official specifications are released.

Should I Wait to Buy?

This depends on your situation. If you're ready to fish now and your current electronics meet your needs, waiting for an unannounced product may not make sense. On the other hand, if you're planning a brand-new setup and aren't in a hurry, it may be worth seeing what Garmin announces before making your final decision.

There isn't one right answer. The best decision is the one that fits your fishing style and timeline.

What Summit Will Be Watching

As soon as Garmin releases official information, we'll be looking closely at several key areas.

  • Compatibility- Will existing accessories still fit?
  • Mounting- Has the transducer size changed? Has the mounting pattern changed?
  • Portability- How will the new design affect portable setups?
  • Battery Requirements- Will runtime expectations change?
  • Installation- Will anglers be able to upgrade without replacing their entire setup?

These are the questions we know our customers will ask, and we'll work to provide answers as quickly as possible.

Our Prediction

No matter what Garmin announces, one thing probably won't change. Anglers want fishing electronics that are:

  • Simple to use
  • Reliable
  • Easy to transport
  • Easy to install
  • Built around the way they actually fish

Technology will continue to improve, but making that technology easier to use is just as important. That's a philosophy we've believed in from the very beginning.

Rumors create excitement, but they also create a lot of uncertainty. Rather than rushing to conclusions, we're choosing to focus on what matters most: helping anglers understand how new technology fits into their current setups. Whether Garmin announces a completely redesigned LiveScope or simply introduces incremental improvements, we'll be here to test it, answer your questions, and help you make an informed decision.

Because at the end of the day, the best fishing electronics aren't just the newest—they're the ones that help you spend more time catching fish and less time worrying about your equipment.
